    Overview

This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for being a pre-built and pre-populated Overpass API server. It contains a clone of the Overpass API database. This AMI provides the API and an Apache server as default. It also syncs with the Overpass minutely updates. Overpass provides an optimized database structure which lends itself to high throughput query use cases. As such this AMI can be placed on low end compute optimized instances and scaled out to handle 1000s of queries per second, which makes it ideal for data-mining and analytics use cases. The API is available under the URL /api/interpreter Please note: - It is cloned with meta=no (i.e does not include meta=yes or meta=attic) - This image does not include the areas functionality by default, but can be enabled on the instance via console access. - Generally speaking, burstable EC2 instance are not suitable for building areas

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Usage instructions

It is also highly recommended to allocate at least 200GB of disk space and to actively monitor disk usage for longer running instances. - This AMI comes prebuilt with the Overpass API - The Overpass API will be automatically exposed on HTTP:80 and is accessible via the /api/ endpoint e.g. /api/interpreter - You can test that the services is running by connecting to http://<public_ip|internal_ip>/api/status - If you choose to expose this AMI to the public internet it can be tested via http://overpass-turbo.eu/  by setting the target server to http://<public_ip/api and executing a query - Should you prefer to use HTTPS, the apache config is easily modified. See instructions at https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/ssl/ssl_howto.html  Please note: - It is cloned with meta=no (i.e does not include meta=yes or meta=attic) - This image does not include area functionality, but it can be enabled (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/Installation#Area_creation ) - Generally speaking, burstable EC2 instance are not suitable for building areas - There is very little free space on this image so you may need to increase it if you want to build areas or run the image long term - It is highly recommended to use a >200GB image size for any instances that are to be longer running (>12 hours)
