Overview
VM-Series, when combined with native AWS services, enable you to create "touchless" deployments and allow your developers to operate at the speed of the cloud. VM-Series protects your applications and data using whitelisting and segmentation policies that are dynamically updated based on AWS tags, allowing you to reduce the attack surface area and achieve compliance. Additionally, threat prevention policies can stop both known and unknown attacks. For BYOL listing, VM-Series license is not included. Please contact your Palo Alto Networks sales representative or channel partner.

Works exactly as expected
Like for like VS the x86 counterpart, this works seamlessly. Providing you're on 11.1+, swapping out x86 for Arm is easy and the exact same launch parameters work as expected (i.e. Bootstrapping is the same). I've seen zero issues in our production environment and the infra bill is much cheaper! go Arm!
There are one or two bugs relating to configuration sizes (at this time) with Panorama integration but this does not affect the firewall performance. Otherwise, this is great.
No updates yet
It's really cool they made the PAN-OS VM image available on ARM. I'm told it's cheaper and more abundant in the cloud. They still haven't started making updates yet though. I opened a support case but didn't get anywhere. I'm not sure what is supposed to be done to go from 11.1.0 to 11.1.2 in the cloud. Make a new one? There's no update .bin on the support site yet either for ARM. You can get the full images through. I'm excited about PA-VM on ARM but it's not ready yet!
Deep Experience with PaloAlto VM series
Easy to access through console, SSH, or GUI.
Implementation is much easier by using scripts.
Support is not bad.
I used to deal with PaloAlto daily and troubleshoot from time to time.
Integration with other software is easier depending on the cloud platform.
Customer support is not providing the expected support immediately, we have to wait until we get a senior engineer.
