AWS Command Line Interface Documentation

The AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI) is a unified tool that provides a consistent interface for interacting with all parts of Amazon Web Services. AWS CLI commands for different services are covered in the accompanying user guide, including descriptions, syntax, and usage examples.

Latest version

  1. Describes all the AWS CLI concepts and provides instructions on using the various features of the latest version of the AWS CLI. Version 2 contains all the latest and adds new features.
  2. Describes the latest version of the AWS CLI in detail and provides basic syntax, options, and usage examples for each operation.
  3. AWS SDKs and Tools shared information including shared config and credential files, configuration and authentication settings, AWS Common Runtime (CRT) libraries, and maintenance and support.
  4. The AWS Code Examples Repository contains code examples used in the AWS documentation, AWS SDK Developer Guides, and more.

Previous versions

  1. Describes all the AWS CLI concepts and provides instructions on using the various features of Version 1 of the AWS CLI. Version 1 is currently still updated but does not include all of the new features the latest version has.
  2. Describes Version 1 of the AWS CLI in detail and provides basic syntax, options, and usage examples for each operation.
